Spaghetti with Meat Sauce is an inexpensive meal to make, even a large portion can be cheap and it makes great leftovers!
INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 pounds sweet or spicy Italian sausage, casings removed and crumbled
¼ cup diced white onion
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 (28 ounce) can tomato puree
¼ teaspoon to ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried basil
2 teaspoons kosher salt
Freshly ground pepper
1 tablespoon sugar
1 pound of dried spaghetti, cooked according to package instructions.
Parmesan cheese, grated

DIRECTIONS:
- In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the oil and cook the sausage until beginning to brown, about 5 minutes.
- Add the onion and garlic and cook 3 minutes more, until lightly browned.
- Add the tomato puree, red pepper flakes, thyme, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar.
- Let simmer for 10 minutes, covered. Taste and adjust seasonings. Can be stored in the refrigerator or 3 days or in the freezer for 1 month.
- Serve with cooked spaghetti and grated Parmesan cheese.
